Shostakovich's
agitated and desolate trio is contrasted with the marvellously warm late-Romanticism
of Arensky.
Both aspects of the Russian musical experience are encompased
by the Bekova sisters, here recorded in the West for the first time as a trio.
Review
- "The disc perfectly matches the astringent with the slightly lush, but the Arensky
- a long swig at the pleasure principal - has been played and re-played by me".
